May 28, 2009

The NAIA announced its Daktronics track and field scholar athlete recipients for the 2008-09 season and 11 Raiders earned the postseason academic honor. To be honored as a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must hold junior or senior academic standing and have a minimum 3.5 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.

Eight women's athletes were named to the list, including Ingrid Carlson, a junior from Sanborn, Iowa, who also earned the honor in 2008. Seniors Tara Blutt and Serah Bugler also earned the honor in women's soccer earlier this year while junior Delainye Hardersen also earned scholar athlete honors in volleyball. Other recipients include: Kaitlin Beaver, Sara Hess, Charity Miles and Jenna Sorensen.

Jameson Guthmiller, a senior from Orange City, Iowa, headlines a list of three men's athletes who received the honor. Guthmiller, who earned the academic honor as a junior, is a biology/health-professions major. Two juniors, Luke Hofmeyer and Kasey Summerer, are first time recipients.
