Mark Mineart (Oskaloosa, Iowa), Adam Verhoef (Pella, Iowa) and Jayme Rozeboom (Rock Rapids, Iowa) have signed a letters of intent to continue their track and field careers at Northwestern College this year.
Mineart is a 6’6” jumper and hurdler who lettered two seasons for the Pella Christian High School track and field team. He qualified for state in the high jump as both a junior and senior and boasts a personal record of 6-02. Mineart plans to major in business administration/finance at Northwestern. He is the son of Steve and Joyce.
“I’m excited that Mark has decided to join our track and field squad,” commented Head Coach Nate Wolf. “He is a very good all-around athlete with great potential in the high jump.”
Verhoef is a 6’3” distance runner who lettered three years for Pella High School. He earned team most valuable runner honors as a senior and boasts a personal record of 16:37 in the 5000m. Verhoef will also be a member of the Red Raider cross country team in the fall. An outstanding student who was named Academic All-State, Verhoef plans to major in biology and chemistry at Northwestern. He is the son of Harry and Linda.
“Adam is a great addition to our track and cross country squads,” commented Wolf. “He is a hard worker and has the potential to be a quality college distance runner. Adam will push for a top five spot on the cross country squad in the fall.”
Rozeboom is a 6’3” sprinter who lettered four years for West Lyon High School. He qualified for state as both a junior and senior and helped lead his team to a second place finish at the state meet his senior year. Rozeboom ran as a member of the second place distance medley team and fifth place 4x100 and 4x200 relays. He also qualified for the open 100m as a senior. As a junior, Rozeboom placed fourth at the state meet in the 4x200 relay. He earned all-conference honors two years and is also a member of the National Honor Society. The son of Jay and Carol, Rozeboom will also play football for the Red Raiders and plans to major in elementary education at Northwestern.
“I’m excited Jayme has decided to continue his running at Northwestern,” commented Wolf. “He is an outstanding athlete who will provide depth in the sprint events. I believe Jayme will have an instant impact on our team in the spring.”
