A limited number of Red Raider track and field athletes competed at the USF Last Chance Invitational in Sioux Falls, S.D on May 8. No team scores were kept at the meet but two Red Raider athletes, Steve Westerkamp and Logan Ogden, took first in their respective events. Westerkamp won the open 400m with a time of 52.03 and followed with a second place finish in the 200m with a time of 23.31. Logan Ogden took first in the shot put with a toss of 49-02.5 and placed second in the discus with a toss of 145-07. Kyle Sauter finished third in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.47 and Craig Menke tied for fourth place in the pole vault as he cleared 12-00.
The Northwestern women's team was led by Halee Wilken and Angela Wiersma who recorded fourth place finishes in their respective events. Wilken cleared 9-03 and tied for fourth in the pole vault and Angela Wiersma placed fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 34-11. Amy Katsma and Kara Den Herder finished seventh and 10th, respectively, in the shot put while Rae Taylor and Den Herder finished fifth and sixth in the discus.
Northwestern did not qualify any new competitors for the NAIA national meet which will be run in Edwardsville, Mo. from May 22-24.
