The Event... The 57th Annual Men's and 28th Annual Women's National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Outdoor Track and Field Championships will begin tomorrow (May 22). The three day event will be held at the Ralph Korte Stadium in Edwardsville, Ill. and will conclude on May 24. Northwestern Athletes... A total of nine Red Raider athletes will compete in five individual events and one relay. Olivia Johnson (1500), Kaitlin Beaver (High Jump), Jon Woehl (Marathon), Logan Ogden (Shot Put) and Michael Ortmeier (Decathlon) will compete as individuals and the women's 4x800 relay team (Delainye Hardersen, Laura Jacobson, Lori Wolf & Kristin Neth) complete the Red Raider lineup.
Schedule of Events... Competition gets underway on Wednesday, May 22 at 10:00 am with the start of the decathlon and several field events. Preliminaries for the running events will get started at 1:00 pm. The championships conclude on Saturday with the awards ceremony at 6:30 pm. Red Raider Notes... Olivia Johnson enters the championships seeded eighth in the 1500m run with a time of 4:37.87, just 3.5 seconds in back of the fourth seeded runner. Kaitlin Beaver is seeded 22nd at 1.63m while the women's 4x800 relay is 10th with a time of 9:27.07. Official Women's Entry List.
For the men, Jon Woehl comes into the championship seeded 18th in the marathon with a half marathon time of 1:12.52. Logan Ogden is seeded 17th in the shot put (15.56m) and Michael Ortmeier is 12th in the decathlon (6114 points). Official Men's Entry List.
