Jun 24 Murra to Play Basketball, Participate in Track and Field at NWC
Kiley Murra (Schaller, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to play basketball and participate in track and field at Northwestern College next year.


Jun 24 Red Raider Track and Field Squad Signs Three
Mark Mineart (Oskaloosa, Iowa), Adam Verhoef (Pella, Iowa) and Jayme Rozeboom (Rock Rapids, Iowa) have signed a letters of intent to continue their track and field careers at Northwestern College this year.


Jun 19 Northwestern Signs Nebraska Standout
Jameson Rexilius (Lincoln, Neb.) has signed letters of intent to continue his football and track and field careers at Northwestern College.


Jun 4 Northwestern Adds Canton High School Product
Kaitlyn VanderBroek (Fairview, South Dakota) has signed a letter of intent to continue her track and field career at Northwestern beginning this fall. VanderBroek, the daughter of Dan and Lori, is a 5-5 discus thrower for Canton High School.  She has earned two varsity letters while competing for coach Lindsy Nolte.  Her best performance came when she launched a 116'0" throw in the discus.


May 24 Johnson Earns All-American Honors
Olivia Johnson earned All-American honors at the 2008 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Edwardsville, Ill. The freshman from Milford, Iowa, finished sixth in the 1500m with a time of 4:32.8.


May 24 NWC Track and Field Athletes Earn Academic Honors
Several members of the Northwestern College track and field team earned NAIA Scholar Athlete Honors for the 2008 season. 12 Red Raider athletes, seven women and five men, carried a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better and have junior or senior status.


May 23 Johnson Qualifies for 1500m Finals
Olivia Johnson has qualified for the finals in the 1500m run at the 2008 NAIA national track and field meet in Edwardsville, Ill. Johnson finished second in heat two and is seeded third in the finals with a time of 4:40.32.


May 21 Red Raider Track and Field Athletes to Compete at Nationals
The 57th Annual Men's and 28th Annual Women's National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Outdoor Track and Field Championships will begin tomorrow (May 22). The three day event will be held at the Ralph Korte Stadium in Edwardsville, Ill. and will conclude on May 24. May 9 Dietrich to Run Track at Northwestern College
Stacey Dietrich (Victor, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to continue her track and field career at Northwestern College next year.


May 9 Westerkamp, Ogden Take First at USF Invite
A limited number of Red Raider track and field athletes competed at the USF Last Chance Invitational in Sioux Falls, S.D on May 8. No team scores were kept at the meet but two Red Raider athletes, Steve Westerkamp and Logan Ogden, took first in their respective events.


May 8 Olivia Johnson Earns the Women's Top Performance-of-the-Meet at GPAC Championships
Olivia Johnson, a freshman from Milford, Iowa, earned the women's top performance-of-the-meet honors as announced by the GPAC this afternoon. Johnson earned the honor after she won dual GPAC championships in both the 800m and 1500m runs.


May 5 Johnson Wins Dual GPAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships
The Northwestern College track and field teams competed at the GPAC Outdoor Championships this past weekend and both teams placed seventh in their respective divisions. The women's team totaled 58 points, just two points in back of Dordt and seven behind fifth place Morningside. The Red Raider men finished seventh with 27 points.Olivia Johnson highlighted the women's team with a first place finish in both the 800m and 1500m runs.


May 2 Northwestern to Run at GPAC Outdoor Championships
The Northwestern College track and field teams will compete in the GPAC Outdoor Championships hosted by Morningside College at Elwood Olsen Stadium in Sioux City, Iowa. Apr 30 Red Raider Track and Field Team Signs South Dakota Sprinter/Hurdler
Shannon Bowar (Faulkton, S.D.) has signed a letter of intent to continue her track and field career at Northwestern College next year.


Apr 28 Women's 4x800 Relay Places Third at Drake Relays
12 Northwestern College track and field athletes comprised four relay teams that competed at the Drake Relays this past weekend in Des Moines, Iowa. The women's 4x800m relay team ran a season best 9:27.07 and placed third in the college division. They have the sixth best time in the event in the entire NAIA and are seeded first heading into the GPAC Championships this weekend. Team members include: Laura Jacobson, Lori Wolf, Delainye Hardersen and Olivia Johnson.

Apr 25 Red Raider Track and Field Teams to Compete This Weekend

Apr 19 Red Raiders Shine After Day One of Doane Relays
Northwestern track and field squads concluded day one at the Doane Relays yesterday (Friday) and seven Red Raiders turned in top five performances in their respective events. Charity Miles highlighted the day with a first place finish in the 10,000m run, setting a new meet record and qualifying for nationals with a time of 38:27. Teammates Sara Hess and Ingrid Carlson placed third and fourth with times of 41:10 and 41:26, respectively. Breann Rozeboom placed third in the 5000m with a time of 19:42. The women's 4x800 relay team took first and qualified for nationals with a time of 9:27.7.

The Northwestern College track and field squads competed at the Wayne State Sunshine Invite yesterday and the Red Raiders turned in 18 top five individual performances, including five first place finishes. No team scores were kept at the meet.

Apr 7 Red Raiders Record Two First Place Finishes at Vance Butler Invitational
The Northwestern College track and field squads competed at the Vance Butler Invitational, hosted by Augustana College (S.D.), this past Saturday and several athletes turned in outstanding performances. Freshman Logan Ogden took first in the shot put with a toss of 48-05.25 and the men's 4x100 relay team placed first with a time of 43.51. Relay members include Kyle Blankers, Jameson Guthmiller, Jordan Langer and Luke Hofmeyer.

Competition gets underway on Thursday, March 6 with the multi-events and several relays get underway Thursday evening. Individual events will begin on Friday, March 7 just after 12:00 pm.

The Great Plains Athletic Conference announced the 2008 Indoor Track and Field honors and Charity Miles and Head Coach Nate Wolf earned season honors.


Feb 24 Four Red Raiders Crowned GPAC Champions at Track and Field Championships
Four Red Raider athletes were crowned GPAC champions this past weekend at the GPAC Indoor Track and Field Championships held in Lincoln, Neb. In addition, three Red Raiders set new conference records in their respective events. The women's team placed fourth overall with a scored of 71.8 points while the men's team placed seventh with a total of 37 points. Doane College ran away with both team titles with 197 points for the women and 219.5 for the men.

The Red Raider track and field teams competed at the BVU Open Friday evening and the women's team placed third out of 12 teams while the men's team finished in fifth place out of 12 teams. The women's team scored 100 total points and recorded 13 top five finishes. The men's team totaled 41.5 points and had five athletes finish in the top five. Doane College won both the women's and men's team titles with 215.5 and 254 total points, respectively.

Jan 26 Red Raiders Perform Well at ISU and BVU Opens
The Red Raider track and field team competed as a split squad this weekend as athletes took part in both the ISU Open in Ames, Iowa and the BVU Open in Storm Lake, Iowa.At the ISU Open, senior Laura Jacobson finished second overall in the 1000m run with a school record time of 2:59.26 and qualified for nationals. It is the second event in which Jacobson has qualified for the NAIA Indoor Championships this season as last week she qualified in the 800m run.

The Red Raider track and field team established five school records and three athletes turned in national qualifying performances this past weekend at the Bill Hillenbrand Open in Vermillion, S.D. Both the men's and women's teams were making their season debut and will next compete as a split squad at the ISU Open in Ames, Iowa and the BV Open in Storm Lake.
