Mount Marty News and Notes...The Lancers are in 11th place in the GPAC with an 1-11 record, 4-20 overall. Since defeating Dakota State 8-4 in the second game of a non-conference doubleheader, Mount Marty was swept by Nebraska Wesleyan 11-0 (5) and 7-2. Their lone GPAC win was a 6-3 victory over Briar Cliff.

Albert Fernandez is in his 10th season as the Lancers head coach and returns seven starters and one pitcher off a 2013 team that finished 10th in the league with a 6-14 record, 6-22 overall. Coach Fernandez was named GPAC co-coach of the year, the second time he earned the postseason honor (2011).

The Lancers are 11th in the GPAC with a .234 batting average, scoring 3.4 runs per game. Courtney Hansen is the top MMC hitter, batting .382 with  four runs scored and nine RBIs. Both Karlee Kozak (.333) and Amber Krause (.302) are the other Lancers who are hitting better than .300 on the year. Olivia Rodriquez, a returning starter, leads the team with 13 RBIs.

Mount Marty sports a 6.35 team ERA and is giving up over eight runs per game. Hansen returns as a starter in the circle and is 0-5 with a 9.06 ERA. Krause is 3-9 with a 5.34 ERA, striking out 38 in 76 innings.

Northwestern News and Notes...The Red Raiders are coming off a very good weekend, going 4-0 against teams that were just ahead of them in the conference standings. Northwestern swept Midland on Friday night and followed with a pair of extra-inning road wins over Doane. They have moved up to second in the GPAC with a 11-5 league record, 24-15 overall.
