Larson Earns NAIA Scholar Athlete Honors Amy Larson, a senior from Denison, Iowa, earned NAIA Scholar Athlete honors for the 2008 season. Larson, a business administration major with an accounting minor, hit .230 with 12 runs scored and seven RBIs this past season for the Red Raiders. She also earned NAIA Scholar Athlete honors in women's basketball.

Two Red Raiders Earn All-Region Softball Honors Two Northwestern College softball players earned NAIA All-Region honors for their play last season. Lizz Swanson and Lexy Determan earned the postseason honors after leading their team to a fourth place finish in the GPAC and a berth in the Regional Tournament. The Red Raiders finished the season with a 28-21 overall record.

Northwestern Goes 1-2 at Region III Softball Tournament The Northwestern College softball team was eliminated from the NAIA Region III Softball Tournament with a 1-2 record and end their season at 28-21. The 2008 event is being played at the SYA Softball Complex in Sioux City, Iowa.

NAIA Region III Softball Tournament Delayed Two Hours Because of last night's rain in Sioux City, the start times for the NAIA Region III Softball Tournament have been moved back to 2:00PM from Noon. The rest of the schedule will be adjusted accordingly. Second round games ill start at 4:00PM and the final games of the day will go at 6:00PM.

Northwestern Softball Set to Play in Region III Tournament The Northwestern College softball team will begin play this afternoon at the 2008 NAIA Region III Softball Tournament hosted by Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. Eight teams comprise this year's tournament, six from the GPAC and two from the DAC Conference. The double-elimination tournament will conclude Friday, May 9 with the winner advancing to the NAIA Softball Tournament in Decatur, Alabama, May 16-21. Determan Earns GPAC Co-Pitcher-of-the-Year Honors Lexy Determan (Terril, Iowa) and Lizz Swanson (Urbandale, Iowa) headline a list of six Red Raider softball players who were named to the all-conference team. Determan was named co-Pitcher-of-the-Year and first team all-GPAC along with Swanson, who earned first team honors as well.

Northwestern Softball Team Eliminated From GPAC Tournament The Northwestern College softball team fell to Doane, 3-2, in an elimination game at the GPAC Softball Tournament. The Red Raiders finished GPAC postseason play with a 2-2 record and will have to wait until Monday to find out if they have qualified for the eight-team Region III Softball Tournament hosted by Morningside College next week. Northwestern is 27-19 overall.

Lexy Determan Earns National Honor Lexy Determan earned NAIA Pitcher-of-the-Week honors for her play last week. The freshman from Terril, Iowa, went 4-0 with one save in five appearances with an impressive 0.58 ERA.

The Red Raiders, the fourth seed, improve to 27-17 overall and will play third-seeded Morningside at noon tomorrow (Friday, May 2) in the winner's bracket championship game.

Northwestern Splits Regular Season Finale With Morningside The Northwestern College softball team closed regular season play with a split of a GPAC doubleheader against Morningside last night, 5-1 and 0-4. The Red Raiders are now 15-9 in the GPAC and tied for fourth place with Briar Cliff and Dana. Northwestern, however, holds the tie break over both teams and will the fourth seed heading into this weekend's GPAC tournament. They are 25-17 overall.

The Red Raiders are in fourth place in the GPAC with a 14-8 record, 24-16 overall. Morningside is in second place in the league with a 16-6 record and are in impressive 32-9 overall.

The Red Raiders fall to 14-8 in the GPAC and stand in fourth place in the league standings with two games left to play.
