Emily Hegstad (Sanborn, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to continue her softball career at Northwestern College for the 2008-09 season.
The daughter of Gary and Julie, Hegstad is a 5-9 outfielder who plays for Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn High School. A three-year letter winner, she batted .308 with three triples and one home run as she helped lead her team to a 10-17 record last season. Hegstad earned all-conference honors for the third straight year. An outstanding student, Hegstad is a member of the National Honor Society. She plans to major in religion or psychology at Northwestern.
“Emily is going to be a great addition to our team,” commented Head Coach Melanie Mason. “She is a quality player who will add depth for us in the outfield.”
