Kuhlmann to Play Softball, Women's Basketball at NWC

Kami Kuhlmann (Charter Oak, Iowa) has signed letters of intent to continue her basketball and softball careers at Northwestern College next year.

The daughter of Mark and Kelley, Kuhlmann is a 5-8 guard who played for Charter Oak-Ute High School. She averaged 21 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals during her senior year. Kuhlmann earned second team all-state and first team all-conference and all-Northwest Iowa honors after averaging 24 points and eight rebounds as a junior. She is a member of the National Honor Society and earned the Citizenship Award three years.Kami

“Kami is a great competitor who has played on some excellent teams in high school,” commented Head Coach Earl Woudstra. “She has excellent range as a shooter and demonstrates a very good understanding of the game. She is an outstanding student with great character; we are looking forward to her contributions to the Northwestern College campus and women’s basketball team.”

A pitcher and infielder for the Charter Oak-Ute softball team, Kuhlmann batted .496 with 12 doubles and five home runs. She also recorded 27 stolen bases. On the mound, Kuhlmann boasted a 24-13 record with a 0.930 ERA and helped lead her team to a 24-19 record and district championship. She struck out 378 batters and walked just 37 in 247 2/3 innings pitched. Kuhlmann earned first team all-state and all-conference honors for two straight years and first team all-district honors in 2007.

“Kami is a great player who will make an immediate impact on our team,” commented Head Coach Melanie Mason. “She is the type of athlete every coach wants and is an excellent student. We are excited to have her join us next year.”
