The Red Raiders are picked to finish fifth in the annual GPAC Preseason Softball poll released earlier today. Northwestern earned 101 total points while the preseason favorite, Morningside, earned 143 points and 11 first place votes. Dana was picked to finish second with 132 points, followed by Midland Lutheran (112) and Concordia (111).
Northwestern and Head Coach Melanie Mason's squad finished the 2006-07 season with a 32-19 overall mark and tied for second place in the league with a 18-6 record. They qualified for their third consecutive regional tournament where they finished with a 1-2 record. The Red Raiders open their season in Cedar Falls, Iowa at the UNI Dome against Mount Mercy on Feb. 8 at 10:00 pm.
