May 14	NWC Softball Team Signs Colorado Recruit Glory Benson (Arvada, Colo.) has signed a letter of intent to continue her softball career at Northwestern College.
May 13	Two Red Raiders Earn All-Region Softball Honors Two Northwestern College softball players earned NAIA All-Region honors for their play last season. Lizz Swanson and Lexy Determan earned the postseason honors after leading their team to a fourth place finish in the GPAC and a berth in the Regional Tournament. The Red Raiders finished the season with a 28-21 overall record.
May 9	Johnson to Play Softball and Basketball at Northwestern College Shelby Johnson (Akron, Iowa) has signed a letter of intent to continue her basketball and softball careers at Northwestern College.
May 8	Northwestern Goes 1-2 at Region III Softball Tournament The Northwestern College softball team was eliminated from the NAIA Region III Softball Tournament with a 1-2 record and end their season at 28-21. The 2008 event is being played at the SYA Softball Complex in Sioux City, Iowa.
May 7	NAIA Region III Softball Tournament Delayed Two Hours Because of last night's rain in Sioux City, the start times for the NAIA Region III Softball Tournament have been moved back to 2:00PM from Noon. The rest of the schedule will be adjusted accordingly. Second round games ill start at 4:00PM and the final games of the day will go at 6:00PM.
May 7	Northwestern Softball Set to Play in Region III Tournament The Northwestern College softball team will begin play this afternoon at the 2008 NAIA Region III Softball Tournament hosted by Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. Eight teams comprise this year's tournament, six from the GPAC and two from the DAC Conference. The double-elimination tournament will conclude Friday, May 9 with the winner advancing to the NAIA Softball Tournament in Decatur, Alabama, May 16-21. May 6	Determan Earns GPAC Co-Pitcher-of-the-Year Honors Lexy Determan (Terril, Iowa) and Lizz Swanson (Urbandale, Iowa) headline a list of six Red Raider softball players who were named to the all-conference team. Determan was named co-Pitcher-of-the-Year and first team all-GPAC along with Swanson, who earned first team honors as well.
May 5	Northwestern Softball Team Qualifies For Regional Tournament The Northwestern College softball team earned the seventh seed and will play second-seed Morningside in the first game of the upcoming NAIA Region III Softball Championships.
May 2	Northwestern Softball Game vs Doane to be Webcast The Northwestern College softball team will face Doane College at approximately 2:40 pm in an elimination game at the 2008 GPAC Softball Championship. The game can be heard via the Tigers Sports Network at the following link: Listen Live.
May 2	Northwestern Softball Team Eliminated From GPAC Tournament The Northwestern College softball team fell to Doane, 3-2, in an elimination game at the GPAC Softball Tournament. The Red Raiders finished GPAC postseason play with a 2-2 record and will have to wait until Monday to find out if they have qualified for the eight-team Region III Softball Tournament hosted by Morningside College next week. Northwestern is 27-19 overall.
May 1	Lexy Determan Earns National Honor Lexy Determan earned NAIA Pitcher-of-the-Week honors for her play last week. The freshman from Terril, Iowa, went 4-0 with one save in five appearances with an impressive 0.58 ERA.
May 1	Northwestern Softball Team is 2-0 at GPAC Championship The Northwestern College softball team went 2-0 on day one of the 2008 GPAC Softball Championship. The Red Raiders, the fourth seed, improve to 27-17 overall and will play third-seeded Morningside at noon tomorrow (Friday, May 2) in the winner's bracket championship game.

Apr 30	Northwestern Splits Regular Season Finale With Morningside The Northwestern College softball team closed regular season play with a split of a GPAC doubleheader against Morningside last night, 5-1 and 0-4. The Red Raiders are now 15-9 in the GPAC and tied for fourth place with Briar Cliff and Dana. Northwestern, however, holds the tie break over both teams and will the fourth seed heading into this weekend's GPAC tournament. They are 25-17 overall.
Apr 29	Northwestern to Host Morningside in Regular Season Finale he Northwestern softball team concludes regular season play this evening as they play host to Morningside in a GPAC doubleheader at 5/7:00 pm. The Red Raiders are in fourth place in the GPAC with a 14-8 record, 24-16 overall. Morningside is in second place in the league with a 16-6 record and are in impressive 32-9 overall.
Apr 28	Northwestern Softball Team Falls to Doane The Northwestern College softball team had their eight game win streak snapped last night in Crete, Neb. as they lost a doubleheader to Doane, 5-0 and 6-0. The Red Raiders fall to 14-8 in the GPAC and stand in fourth place in the league standings with two games left to play.
Apr 28	Northwestern Softball Team to Play Doane in GPAC Doubleheader The Northwestern College softball team travels to Crete, Neb. to take on Doane in a GPAC doubleheader beginning at 3:00 pm. The Red Raiders have won eight straight games and are in third place in the league at 14-6, 24-14 overall. Doane comes in with a 12-10 record, 21-13 overall. Apr 27	Northwestern Softball Team Wins Eighth Straight; Defeat Dana 5-0 and 4-2 The Northwestern College softball team swept their fourth straight doubleheader and won their eighth consecutive game as they knocked off Dana, 5-0 and 4-2. The Red Raiders improve to 24-14 overall and more importantly, 14-6 and in third place in the GPAC with four games left to play. Dana falls to 17-16 overall, 13-9 in the GPAC. Both teams have qualified for the eight-team, postseason GPAC tournament which will begin next week.
Apr 26	Northwestern Softball to Play Dana in Blair, Neb. The Northwestern College softball team will go for their seventh and eighth straight wins this afternoon as they travel to Blair, Neb. to play Dana College in a GPAC doubleheader. First pitch of game one scheduled for 3:00pm with game two around 5:00. The Red Raiders have won six straight and are fourth in the league with a 12-6 record, 22-14 overall. Dana is 11-7 (sixth place) and 17-14 overall.
Apr 25	Softball Schedule Changes for This Weekend The Northwestern College softball doubleheader scheduled for this evening against Morningside has been postponed due to the weather. The games will now be played on Tuesday, April 29 at 5/7:00 pm. In addition, Saturday's doubleheader scheduled against Dana will now be played in Blair, Neb. and NOT in Orange City. Game times in Blair tomorrow will be at 3/5:00 pm.

Apr 23	Determan Named GPAC and Regional Pitcher-of-the-Week Lexy Determan (Terril, Iowa) earned both GPAC and Region III Pitcher-of-the-Week honors for her play last week. The freshman went 3-1 with a 0.99 ERA in five appearances, four starts.
Apr 23	Northwestern Hosts Briar Cliff in GPAC Softball Northwestern College hosts Briar Cliff this evening in a key GPAC softball doubleheader beginning at 5:00 pm. The Red Raiders stand in fifth place in the league at 10-6 and trail Midland Lutheran and Briar Cliff by two and three games, respectively, in the win column with eight games left to play. Northwestern is 20-14 overall while the Chargers are 17-14 overall, 13-6 in the league. Both games this evening can be heard via the Red Raider web-cast.
Apr 23	NWC Wins Sixth Straight; Determan Sets Strikeout Mark Lexy Determan broke the school record for strikeouts in a single season and the Northwestern College softball team swept a key GPAC doubleheader from Briar Cliff, 5-0 and 1-0. With the wins, the Red Raiders, who have won six straight games, improve to 22-14 overall, 12-6 and in third place in the GPAC with six games left in the regular season. Briar Cliff falls to 17-18 overall, 13-8 in the league.
Apr 22	Northwestern Softball Sweeps DWU, 3-2 and 9-0 The Northwestern College softball team swept a GPAC doubleheader against Dakota Wesleyan last night played in Mitchell, S.D, 3-2 and 9-0 (5 innings). Coach Mason's squad has won four straight games and improves to 20-14 overall, 10-6 in the GPAC with eight leagues games left in the regular season.
Apr 21	Determan Pitches NWC Past Nebraska Wesleyan in GPAC Softball The Red Raider softball team swept a GPAC doubleheader from Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday by the scores of 2-0 and 2-0. Northwestern improves to 18-14 overall, 8-6 in the GPAC with one week left in the regular season. The visiting Prairie Wolves fall to 19-13 overall and 9-9 in the GPAC.
Apr 21	Northwestern/DWU To Play in Softball Doubleheader The Northwestern College softball team travels to Mitchell, S.D., to play Dakota Wesleyan in a GPAC doubleheader beginning at 5:00 pm. The Red Raiders are in sixth place in the conference standings with an 8-6 record, 18-14 overall with one week left to play in the regular season. DWU is currently in 10th place with a 6-10 league record and trail eighth place Hastings (11-9) by five-and-a-half games for the final postseason spot.

Apr 15	Red Raider Softball Plays at Dordt, Midland Lutheran in GPAC Doubleheaders The Northwestern College softball team returns to action as they play a pair of GPAC doubleheaders on the road today and tomorrow. Apr 10	Red Raiders Sweep USF, 8-0 and 5-2 The Red Raider softball team swept a GPAC doubleheader from USF last night, 8-0 in six innings and 5-2 in the nightcap. Northwestern improves to 14-12 overall, 4-4 in the GPAC. USF falls to 2-8 overall, 1-7 in league play.

Feb 11	Red Raiders go 4-0 in Weekend Tournament The Red Raider softball team went a perfect 4-0 this past weekend as they made their 2008 season debut at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa. On Friday night, they defeated Mount Mercy (6-0) and Dakota State (10-0 in five innings) and followed with two more wins on Saturday, 9-0 (five innings) over Iowa Wesleyan and 4-2 over Dakota State.
Feb 9	Red Raiders Open 2008 Season with Two Wins at UNI Dome Northwestern swept a pair of games at the UNI Dome late Friday night as they knocked off Mount Mercy and Dakota State. The Red Raiders won their 2008 season opener as they recorded a 6-0 shutout victory over Mount Mercy. Lexy Determan earned her first collegiate victory on the mound and Gabrielle Burrola pitched the final two innings in the victory.
Feb 8	Red Raider Softball Team to Make 2008 Season Debut The Red Raider softball team will make their 2008 season debut this weekend as they play four games at the Ramada UNI-Dome Classic in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Northwestern will play Mount Mercy and Dakota State late Friday night at 10/12:00 and will play Iowa Wesleyan and Dakota State on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 7/9:00 pm.

Northwestern earned 101 total points while the preseason favorite, Morningside, earned 143 points and 11 first place votes.
