Northwestern College finished as the top NAIA team at the Roy Griak Invite held this morning at the Les Bolstad Golf Course on the campus of the University of Minnesota.
Ranked sixth in the last coaches' poll, Northwestern finished 18th out of the 41 teams competing in a meet that had teams from NCAA D-I, D-II and D-III levels. The Red Raiders were the top NAIA team with 496 points, nearly 400 ahead of the next NAIA team, Lawrence Tech, and also the lowest score by NWC in four years.
paced the Red Raiders with a 24th place finish, best among NAIA runners, and completed the 8K course with a time of 26:48. Epp is the third different Red Raider to post the top NAIA time at a meet this season. Peter Smith
finished 75th with a time of 27:42, followed closely by Tanner Goetsch
in 85th place with a time of 27:53. Tim Rose
was the fourth Red Raider to cross the finish line and did so in 96th place with a time of 28:00. All four Red Raiders ran their personal best at the Griak course.
Nickolas Bernhagen finished 164th (28:58) was the final counter for NWC and was followed by both Peter Hollinger
(166th-29:01) and Joshua Starr
Northwestern will next compete at the Briar Cliff Invite on Saturday, Oct. 7 at McCook Lake, S.D.
