Northwestern dropped a very hard fought contest, 1-0, to Mount Mercy in the finale of the Dordt/Northwestern Pizza Ranch Classic Saturday afternoon. Northwestern and Mount Mercy both had 13 shots in the game. Jay Petersen made the most of a Nebojsa Jevtovic corner kick, finding the back of the net in the 49th minute, to give the Mustangs the lead.

Northwestern had some very good scoring chances down the stretch but Mt. Mercy keeper Nenad Simovic made nine saves to preserve the shut-out. Raider keeper, Jeff Lanser, made seven saves. Jonathan Taves led the Raiders with four shots while Jordan Born had three and Aron Pall had two. Northwestern had one corner kick and the Mustangs had three, all in the second half.
