Travis Sytsma (Littleton, Colorado) and Spencer Rogl (Centennial, Colorado) have signed letters of intent to continue their soccer career at Northwestern College next fall.
TRAVIS SYTSMA
Sytsma is a 5'10", 140-pound midfielder from Heritage High School. Sytsma has earned four letters over the course of his career and scored four goals and registered seven assists in Heritage's 12-2-3 season. As a freshman, Sytsma earned All-Conference Honorable Mention honors, as a junior, he was a first team All-Conference player and a honorable mention All-State player. His senior season Sytsma again earned first team All-Conference and was also named the Continental Player of the Year, first team All-State, Regional All-American, and was named a member of the All-Colorado team. Sytsma was also a member of the club soccer team, REAL Colorado United.
A Collegiate Scholar recipient, Sytsma will enter as an undecided major at Northwestern. He is the son of Marvin and Cindy and the brother to former Northwestern standout Tyler Sytsma. Tyler was a four time All-GPAC player, All-American honorable mention, and NAIA Scholar Athlete while at Northwestern.
"Travis is coming off of a very successful high school career. He is an outstanding player and has received many well-deserved accolades in the past year," said head coach Dan Swier. "He has experienced success in the classroom as well, and we are excited about the impact he will have at NWC in the coming years."
SPENCER ROGL
The son of Alex and Sue, Rogl is a 5’11” defender who plays for Arapahoe High School. Last season, Rogl scored one goal and had three assists as Arapahoe went 13-3-4. A three year letter winner, Rogl was named the offensive MVP as a freshman, defensive MVP as a junior and senior, team MVP as a senior, captain as a senior, first team All-League as a senior, honorable mention All-State as a senior, and was a member of the Warrior Invite All-Tournament Team as a junior and senior. Rogl was also a member of the club soccer team REAL Colorado United. In the classroom, Rogl was a first team Academic All-Stater as a junior and senior and was an Academic Scholar as a junior and senior. Rogl will start school as an undecided major.
Coach Swier comments, “We are happy to welcome Spencer into the soccer program at Northwestern. He comes from a solid high school program and knows what it takes to compete at a high level. His work ethic on the field and in the classroom make him a great fit, and we are looking forward to his contributions on the field and on campus during his time at NWC."
