Two Northwestern men's soccer players earned national regonition for their efforts in the classroom during their careers as a Red Raider. Seniors Jordan Born and Tyler Sytsma both were named 2009 Daktronics-NAIA Men's Soccer Scholar-Athletes. This was the second season Born has won the honor and the first for Sytsma.
To be awarded the honor, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status.
Sytsma and Born were also named to the All-GPAC teams, Sytsma was named a second team defender while Born earned honorable mention honors.
