Seniors Tyler Sytsma and Jordan Born earned All-GPAC honors for their efforts during the 2009 soccer season. Sytsma was named a 2nd Team All-GPAC defender while Born earned honorable mention honors.
Sytsma, a senior from Littleton, Colorado, started all 16 games this season and had one assists, he also made seven shots. Sytsma was a key component of the Red Raider defense. Sytsma has been named an All-GPAC player for the fourth consecutive season, 2nd team in 2006 and 2009 and 1st team in 2007 and 2008. Sytsma was named an All-American honorable mention in 2007. He has started every game during his career at Northwestern.
Born, a senior from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, also started all 16 games this season. He registered one goal and one assist from the midfield position on 20 shots. He has made 43 starts and has played in 69 games for his career, this is the first time Born has made an All-GPAC team.
Northwestern finished the season 4-11-1 overall and went 3-8 in GPAC play.
