Northwestern Hosts Sioux Falls in Final 2009 Home Game

Northwestern (5-10-1, 3-7 GPAC) takes on Sioux Falls (9-6-1, 7-2-1 GPAC) today in a pivotal soccer match at DeValois Stadium.

Northwestern fell at Dakota Wesleyan in their last match, on Oct. 21st, by the score of 2-0. Northwestern gave up two first half goals and couldn’t find the back of the net, and fell to 10th place in the GPAC standings. The top eight GPAC teams move on to the conference tournament. Aaron O’Brien led the team with four shots. Northwestern outshot DWU 13-12 in the match. 

Tonight is senior night, where we would like to honor the three senior soccer players; Jordan Born, Aaron O’Brien, and Tyler Sytsma.

Jordan Born has played in 70 career games and made three goals and registered five assists. Born has made 66 shots.

Aaron O’Brien has played in 75 games in his career, scoring 27 goals and making 11 assists. He is second all time in goals and points scored. With three shots, O’Brien will have made 200 shots in his career. He has ten game winning goals. O’Brien has twice been named a honorable mention GPAC player and last yer was named 2nd Team All-GPAC.

Tyler Sytsma has played in 76 games at Northwestern and has made three assists as a defender. Sytsma was named 2nd Team All-GPAC as a freshman and was 1st Team All-GPAC as a sophomore and junior, including All-American honorable mention honors as a sophomore.
