Northwestern scored two second half goals en route to improving their overall record to 6-7-1 and moving to 4-3-1 in the GPAC. Mount Marty was shut-out as they fell to 4-7-2 and 1-5-2 in the GPAC.
Northwestern out-shot Mount Marty 19-3 for the match and had five shots on goal. The Raiders got a team high three shots on goal from Aaron O'Brien, who scored both of Northwestern's goals. Aron Pall and Kyle Heynen both had assists on the night. The first goal from O'Brien came just after half-time following a nice cross then pass from Pall to Heynen to O'Brien. The first goal was O'Brien's sixth goal of the season. Seconds later Northwestern was fouled inside the 18 and O'Brien nailed the penalty kick to put Northwestern up 2-0. O'Brien's second goal of the game was his seventh of the season. Heynen has made three assists this season and Pall made his first assist of the season. Ben Schneider wasn't tested much this game making two saves in 90 minutes of play.
Northwestern takes on Concordia this weekend in Seward, Neb. in a women's/men's soccer doubleheader. Women's match is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm.
