Aug 26 Northwestern Starts Season Tomorrow in Pizza Ranch Classic
Last season, Northwestern finished 5-12-1 overall and 3-9 in the GPAC and 11th in the standings. The Raiders return nine players that started six games or more in 2009, including top offensive player in Jonathan Taves (seven goals, one assist) and goalkeeper in Jeff Lanser. The Raiders added a program record 20 recruits this season and have a total roster of 30.

Kolby Kyle (Sioux Falls, S.D.) and James Kapanka (Cedar Falls, Iowa) have signed letters of intent to continue their soccer careers at Northwestern College next fall.

Dec 7 Born and Sytsma Earn NAIA Scholar Athlete Honors
Two Northwestern men's soccer players earned national regonition for their efforts in the classroom during their careers as a Red Raider. Seniors Jordan Born and Tyler Sytsma both were named 2009 Daktronics-NAIA Men's Soccer Scholar-Athletes. This was the second season Born has won the honor and the first for Sytsma.


Nov 10 Sytsma and Born earn All-Conference Honors
Seniors Tyler Sytsma and Jordan Born earned All-GPAC honors for their efforts during the 2009 soccer season. Sytsma was named a 2nd Team All-GPAC defender while Born earned honorable mention honors.


Oct 30 Northwestern Takes on Doane in Final Match of 2009
Northwestern (4-10-1, 3-7) takes on Doane College (8-8, 7-4) tomorrow in men's soccer. The Red Raiders have been eliminated from post season play, so this will be their final match of 2009. Northwestern has won three of their last five matches.

Oct 20 Men's Soccer Collects Three Victories Last Week
Northwestern (5-9-1, 3-6) won all three of their matches last week, defeating Mt. Marty, Concordia, and Upper Iowa. The Raiders have Dakota Wesleyan, Sioux Falls, and Doane left on the soccer schedule. The regular season concludes on Oct. 31st.

Northwestern (2-8-1, 1-5) takes on the Vikings of Dana (4-1-1, 7-2-2) today in a women/men doubleheader at the Northwestern Soccer Complex in Orange City. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 pm.


Oct 1 Raiders Fall to Defenders, 2-0
Northwestern fell 2-0 to Dordt on Wednesday afternoon in Sioux Center in a GPAC soccer match. The Raiders gave up two first half goals and couldn't find the net while falling to 2-7-1 and 1-4 in the GPAC.

Northwestern (1-6-1, 0-3) takes on the Prairie Wolves of Nebraska Wesleyan (0-0-2, 3-1-4) today in a women/men doubleheader at Korver Field in Orange City.

Northwestern lost to Briar Cliff on Tuesday afternoon in men's soccer, 1-0. The Red Raiders fell to 1-6-1 overall and are 0-3 in GPAC play. Northwestern hosts Nebraska Wesleyan this Saturday at DeValois Stadium in Orange City, Iowa.


Sep 18 Northwestern Soccer Travels to Hastings, Nebraska
The Northwestern soccer teams will be traveling to Hastings, Nebraska on Saturday to take on Hastings College in a GPAC women/men soccer doubleheader. The women are looking for their first victory while the men look for their first conference win in 2009.

Northwestern (1-3-1, 0-0) takes on the Mustangs of Morningside (2-2, 0-0) today in a women/men doubleheader at Korver Field in Orange City. Today’s match is the conference opener for both teams.


Sep 15 Northwestern Defeats York 4-2 in Men's Soccer
Northwestern men's soccer won their first game of the season, 4-2 over York, behind two goals by Jonathan Taves. The Raiders also out-shot York 24-7 in the game and dominated the corner kicks 5-1.

Today Northwestern hosts York College in a non-conference match at the soccer complex in Orange City starting at 2:00 pm. Northwestern islooking for their first win of the season after going 0-3-1 in their first four matches.
