Raiders Sign Mult-Sports Stars to Play Soccer and Run Track

Brandon Hammack (Fresno, Calif.) and Adam Potter (Orland Park, Ill.) have signed letters of intent to continue their soccer and track and field careers at Northwestern College next fall.

Hammack is a 5’5” outside midfielder who started 20 games over the last two years playing for Central High East Campus. He tallied three assists and helped lead his team to a second place finish at the state tournament with a 23-5-4 record. An outstanding student, Hammack plans to major in kinesiology at Northwestern. He is the son of Scott and Ann Marie.

“Brandon is exactly the type of player we like to have at Northwestern,” commented head coach Dan Swier. “He has played and excelled at a high level, facing some of the toughest competition in all of southern California. Brandon will bring a positive attitude to the locker room and his competitive drive to the game field next fall.”

A two-year letter winner in track and field, Hammack is a standout sprinter for Central High East Campus. He recorded personal bests of: 23.4 in the 200m, 10.9 in the 100m and 51.7 in the open 400m. Hammack earned the coaches award as a junior.

“Brandon is a very competitive athlete,” commented head coach Nate Wolf. “He will bring great energy to our program along with the ability to have an instant impact in the sprint events. Brandon has the speed to be a very good 400m runner for us over the course of his career.”

Potter is a 6’0” midfielder and forward who lettered four years for the Chicago Christian High School soccer team. He scored 10 goals and recorded 16 assists and helped lead his team to a 6-15-3 record. Potter was a team captain as a senior and will for Team USA in the Gothia Cup. He plans to major in athletic training at Northwestern and is the son of Joseph and Linda.

“Adam is a talented athlete who played three sports at Chicago Christian,” commented Swier. “His passion for the game of soccer combined with his athleticism make him a great fit for our program. We look forward to his arrival on campus in the fall.”

Potter lettered four years for the Chicago Christian High School track and field team. He boasts personal bests of 2:05 in the 800m and 51.9 in the open 400m. Potter was named team captain his senior year.

“Adam is a solid addition to our team,” commented Wolf. “He is a quality athlete that will compete for us in the 400-800m races. We are glad that Adam chose to continue his track and field career at Northwestern.”
