The Red Raiders were defeated by University of Maine-Fort Kent, 2-1, at the 2007 NAIA National Soccer Tournament played in Olathe, Kan.
Making their first ever trip to the national tournament, Northwestern gave up two first half goals and trailed 2-0 at the half. The Bengals, the only undefeated team in the tournament field (20-0), erased the scoreless tie when Dwayne Smith netted an Andre Anderson pass for a 1-0 lead during the 33rd minute. Moments later, Anderson capitalized on a Red Raider turnover and blasted a long shot past NWC keeper Ben Schneider for a 2-0 lead. Northwestern cut the lead down to one during the 59th minute when Brad White scored his 12th goal of the season off an assist by Steven Grand. Despite several chances to tie the game in the closing minutes, the Red Raiders could not find the net and fell, 2-1.
Northwestern out-shot the Bengals, 17-12, and had seven shots on goal compared to just five for Maine-Fort Kent. White and Andy Janssen led the Red Raiders with four shot each. Schneider recorded three saves.
Northwestern ends their season with a 12-8-1 overall record.
