Northwestern Falls To Dordt in OT

Dordt College knocked off Northwestern 2-1 in overtime on Wednesday afternoon.  The Defenders scored first in the 15th minute when Dan Koolhaas's shot went off keeper Ben Schneider and into the net.  Both teams would not score for another 55 minutes but Northwestern broke through and got the equalizer in the 70th minute when Brad White found the back of the net on a rebound.  Neither team could score again in regulation and the game headed to overtime.  Dordt got the golden goal eight minutes into OT on a give and go between Koolhaas and Ryan Coon.

The match statistics were very even, Northwestern made 14 shots to Dordt's 16.  Northwestern made six saves and Dordt four.  The Raiders had 15 fouls while Dordt had 14.  Blake Wieking led Northwestern with five shots and one shot on goal, White and Bryant Wieking both had three shots, White had one shot on goal and one goal.  Koolhaas led Dordt with six shots, three on goal, one goal, and one assist.  Coon had five shots, four on goal, and one goal.

Northwestern fell to 10-6-1 overall and 7-3-1 in the GPAC, while Dordt improved to 8-6-2 overall and 5-4-2 in the conference.  Northwestern finishes the regular season with a match at Midland Lutheran on Saturday.
