Men's Soccer to Battle Tigers in Mitchell, S.D.

Northwestern heads to Mitchell, S.D. to take on Dakota Wesleyan in a GPAC soccer match.  NWC enters with a 5-4 overall record and a 2-1 GPAC record while DWU comes in 1-6 overall and 0-4 in GPAC contests.

The Tigers are led offensively by Juan Baltazar and Gerald Cruz.  Baltazar has four goals and two assists on 16 shots and 11 shots on goal, and Cruz has two goals and two assists on 15 shots and 12 shots on goal.  Mason Hebert has also added a goal and an assist for Dakota Wesleyan.  Two goalkeepers have seen time for DWU, but Shiloh Barrett has seen the most action, collecting nearly 500 minutes of the 630 overall.  Barrett has made 29 saves and has allowed 15 goals, teammate Patrick Ryan has allowed seven goals and made ten saves.  All four of the GPAC losses have come to teams with winning records and DWU has played very tough soccer at home, losing to league leader Nebraska Wesleyan 1-2 at Cadwell Park and losing to Morningside 1-2 at Cadwell.

Northwestern has played three consecutive conference games and sits at 2-1 in the conference and has won three of their last four matches, only falling to Nebraska Wesleyan, 0-1, in double OT.  The Raiders have gotten goals from six players; Aaron O'Brien (8), Andy Janssen (6), Brad White (3), Blake Wieking (3), Kyle Heynen (1), and Dereck Ball (1) and eight Raiders have assisted on goals; White (5), Steven Grand (3), Janssen (1), Bl. Wieking (1), Aron Pall (1), Jordan Born (1), and Benjamin Rasefske (1).  O'Brien has a shot on goal percentage of .640 as 16 of his 25 shots have been on goal, he has also made two game winners for Northwestern.  Ben Schneider has started the last three games for Northwestern in goal and has collected 16 saves while giving up three goals.  Mike Van Engen has made 30 saves and Chris Bergst has made four saves for NWC.

Northwestern takes on Sioux Falls in their next contest, in Orange City on Tuesday, October 2nd, in a women's/men's soccer double header.  Women's game will start at 2:00 p.m. and the men will follow at 4:00 p.m.
