May 9 Northwestern College Names Dan Swier as Men's Soccer Coach
NorthwesternCollegeis pleased to announce that Dan Swier has been hired as the new Head Men’s Soccer Coach. He will be replacing T.J. Buchholz who resigned earlier this spring to take over both the men’s and women’s soccer programs at Wartburg College (Iowa). Swier is a 2006 graduate of Northwestern and has spent the last two years in Arlington, Texas, earning his master’s degree in exercise physiology at the University of Texas at Arlington. He and his wife Morgan (Walker-’06) are both former letter-winners in soccer at Northwestern.


Apr 21 Soccer Coach Buchholz Resigns
T.J. Buchholz, the director of soccer at Northwestern, has resigned and taken the same position at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. Last season, the men's team qualified for the NAIA National Tournament for the first time in school history, finished with a 12-8-1 record, and won the NAIA Region III Championship.  The women's team finished 7-10-1 and was 7-4-1 in the conference.


Mar 26 Men's Soccer Announces Spring Schedule
Coach Buchholz has announced the Red Raider Men’s games for this spring.  The Red Raiders are coming off an outstanding fall season that saw the team win the Regional 3 Tournament and make it’s first ever appearance at the NAIA National Tournament in Kansas City.  The Raiders will open up on Saturday, March 29th against NCAA Division 1 Powerhouse Creighton Blue Jays.


Mar 25 Monnier Signs With Northwestern
Billy Monnier a 5-11 defender/midfielder from Bellevue West H.S. in Bellevue, Neb. has signed a letter of intent with Northwestern College.


Jan 29 Pence to Join Red Raider Men's Soccer Program
Mark Pence (Hickman, Neb.) has signed a letter of intent to continue his soccer career at Northwestern College next fall.


Nov 21 Four Raiders Earn All-American/Region III Honors
Senior midfielder Blake Wieking (Sioux Falls, S.D.) returns to the NAIA All-American Honorable Mention in 2007 and is joined by a trio of other Raiders.  Junior midfielder Andy Janssen (Sioux Falls, S.D.), sophomore forward Brad White (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and sophomore defender Tyler Sytsma (Littleton, Colo.) also earned NAIA All-American Honorable Mention honors for their efforts this fall.


Nov 14 Red Raiders Fall 2-1 at National Tournament
The Red Raiders were defeated by University of Maine-Fort Kent, 2-1, at the 2007 NAIA National Soccer Tournament played in Olathe, Kan.


Nov 14 Red Raiders to Play #13 U. of Maine Fort Kent
20th seed Northwestern College drew 13th seed Maine-Fort Kent in the NAIA's 49th Annual Championships in Olathe, Kan.  The Red Raiders and Bengals will take the field on Wednesday, November 14th at noon in the tournament's opening match.  UMFK comes into the match as the nation's only unbeaten team at 20-0-0, while Northwestern comes in at 12-7-1.  


Nov 9 Raiders To Take On Bengals In National Tournament
20th seed Northwestern College drew 13th seed Maine-Fort Kent in the NAIA's 49th Annual Championships in Olathe, Kansas.


Nov 6 Men's Soccer Team Advances to Regional Final
The Red Raiders defeated USF 3-2 in the semifinals of the regional tournament and will advance to their second consecutive regional final. Northwestern, now 11-7-1, will play top-seeded Hastings on Tuesday night at 7:00 pm with a national tournament berth on the line.


Nov 6 Raiders Defeat Hastings 1-0; Advance to First Ever National Tournament
For the first time in the program's 13-year history, the Northwestern College men's soccer team is going to the NAIA national tournament. The second seeded Red Raiders knocked off top-seed Hastings, 1-0, in the regional final and will advance to the 2007 national tournament.


Nov 1 Three Raiders Earn First Team All-Conference Honors
Junior Andy Janssen and sophomores Brad White and Tyler Sytsma have been named first team all-GPAC players for their efforts in the 2007 men's soccer season.


Oct 29 Raiders Drop Double OT Match To Midland
Northwestern dropped to 7-4-1 in the GPAC and 10-7-1 overall on Saturday as they fell 4-3 in double OT versus Midland Lutheran in men's soccer.


Oct 28 Northwestern Earns Bye In Region III Tournament
The Northwestern men's soccer team earned the #2 seed and a first round bye in the NAIA Region III tournament.

Dordt College knocked off Northwestern 2-1 in overtime on Wednesday afternoon.


Oct 24 Northwestern To Defend Region III Ranking vs. Defenders
The Northwestern College Red Raiders and the Dordt College Defenders will compete today in a men's soccer match at 4:00 p.m. in Sioux Center.


Oct 23 White and Schneider Earn GPAC Player of the Week Awards
Colorado Springs, Colo. natives Brad White and Ben Schneider both earned GPAC Player of the Week awards for their efforts this past week.


Oct 22 Northwestern Defeats Hastings 1-0, First Time in School History
Northwestern earns their first victory over Hastings College in men's soccer, 1-0, on a Brad White goal early in the second half.  Ben Schneider collects his fifth GPAC shut-out in the win.  The Red Raiders move to 10-5-1 overall and 7-2-1 in the GPAC.


Oct 22 Northwestern Ranked Number 1 in Region III Rankings
Northwestern earned the top spot in the Oct. 22nd rankings, moving from number three to number one following a 2-0 week.


Oct 17 Double OT Goal Keeps Northwestern In Mix
Northwestern picked up a big conference win in double overtime over Morningside 2-1 Tuesday night.


Oct 11 Northwestern Defeats Briar Cliff 4-0 in Men's Soccer
Northwestern featured a balanced attack on Wednesday night as the defeated Briar Cliff 4-0, to improve to 8-5 overall and 5-2 in GPAC play. Four different Raiders scored goals and two Raiders assisted on goals.


Oct 8 Northwestern Defeats Doane 2-0 in Men's Soccer
Brad White and Blake Wieking both scored goals for Northwestern in the first half and Ben Schneider managed a two save shut-out in the Raider's 2-0 win over Doane Saturday night.

Today's soccer matches between Northwestern and USF will be played on Korver Field


Sep 27 Northwestern Defeats Dakota Wesleyan 3-1
Northwestern scored two goals in the first five minutes of the match in route to a 3-1 victory over Dakota Wesleyan on Wednesday evening.  The Raiders moved to 3-1 in GPAC matches and to 6-4 overall while the Tigers fell to 0-5 in the GPAC and 1-7 overall.


Sep 26 Men's Soccer to Battle Tigers in Mitchell, S.D.
Northwestern heads to Mitchell, S.D. to take on Dakota Wesleyan in a GPAC soccer match.  NWC enters with a 5-4 overall record and a 2-1 GPAC record while DWU comes in 1-6 overall and 0-4 in GPAC contests.


Sep 24 Northwestern defeats Concordia 3-0
Northwestern defeated Concordia 3-0 Saturday afternoon, improving their record to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in GPAC play.  The Raiders out-shot Concordia 18-14 and had seven corner kicks to the Bulldog's two.


Sep 21 Men's Soccer hosting Concordia on Saturday
Northwestern men's soccer hosts Concordia Saturday in a GPAC match, start time is set for 3:00 p.m. at the Northwestern Soccer Complex.


Sep 19 Northwestern beats Mount Marty 6-2
Northwestern downed Mt. Marty in men's soccer on Tuesday afternoon, 6-2.  Northwestern scored one goal in the first half and five goals in the second half en route to tying their highest goal total of the season.


Sep 13 Northwestern Loses in Double OT, 1-0
The Northwestern men's soccer team fell last night to Nebraska Wesleyan 1-0 in double overtime. It was a heartbreaking loss for the Red Raiders, who had played 109:32 of physical, sound defense.


Sep 12 Men's Soccer Opens up GPAC Season
Nebraska Wesleyan enters today’s game with a 3-1 overall record and a 1-0 GPAC record.  NWU defeated Morningside 2-1 in their GPAC opener last Wednesday.  All four of the Prairie Wolves’ games have been one goal games.


Sep 5 Northwestern Falls to Midland Lutheran
Northwestern men's soccer fell to Midland Lutheran 2-1 tonight in Orange City.  The game was a non-conference game.  Northwestern fell to 2-3 overall while Midland improved to 3-0.  Northwestern took an early lead when Andy Janssen's shot found the back of the net 13:21 into the game.


Aug 31 Men's soccer to take on NAIA powerhouse in California
The Northwestern Men's Soccer team will take on the Azusa Pacific Men's Soccer team today at 3:00 p.m. CST in Santa Barbara, Cali at Westmont College. 


Aug 25 Four Red Raiders Earn All-Classic Honors
Four Red Raiders earned all-classic honors at the Northwestern Bank Men's Soccer Classic this past weekend.


Aug 25 Men's Soccer Team Stays Perfect With 6-1 Win Over Jamestown
The Red Raiders improved to 2-0 on the young, 2007 season with a 6-1 victory over Jamestown College (N.D.) in the final game of the Northwestern Bank Classic.


Aug 17 Men's Soccer Preview
Coach T.J. Buchholz’s team returns seven starters from last year including four second team All-GPAC performers and two All-GPAC honorable mentions.  This is coupled with a talented and deep recruiting class that Buchholz believes will have longevity and a high impact for four years.  The Raiders will have to replace two time All-American goalkeeper Mike Ten Clay.


Aug 8 Men's Soccer Picked to Finish Runner-up
The Red Raider men's soccer team, which reached the regional tournament, for the third time in four years, was picked to finish second in the 2007 GPAC pre-season poll.
