Luke Vermeer and Michael Clark each shot a five-over 76 and finished tied for 15th overall at the 16-team Dordt College Invitational played at The Ridge in Sioux Center, Iowa. 89 golfers competed at this afternoon's meet, one of the largest of the fall season. Vermeer struggled on the front nine with a seven-over 42 but closed with a two-under 34 on the back to finish with a 76 and placed in the top 15 for the third time this season. Clark shot an even-par 35 on the front and went five-over (41) on the back to place in the top 15 for the second time. The Northwestern varsity team finished in ninth place out of 16 teams with a team score of 320. The Red Raider junior varsity shot a 331 and placed 13th overall. In addition to Vermeer and Clark, Ross Kiewiet tied for 43rd with an 81 and Johnny Schwaller tied for 72nd with an 87. For the junior varsity, Michael Dykema shot a six-over 77 (38/39) and tied for 19th place. Jon Roberts and Brian Tjepkes tied for 56th with an 84. Northwestern will host the first round of the GPAC Championship next Thursday, Sept. 17, at Landsmeer Golf Club. Complete Results
