The Event... The Red Raider men's golf team will resume their season this afternoon as they play in the Buena Vista Invitational at Lake Creek Golf Club in Storm Lake, Iowa. The players will tee off around noon.

The Tournament Field... Six schools will compete in Storm Lake, including two teams each for both Buena Vista and Briar Cliff and one each from Dordt, Doane, Northwestern and Wayne State.

The Red Raider Line-Up... Luke Vermeer headlines the NWC line-up after winning medalist honors on Tuesday at the Red Raider Open. The junior carded a one-under 70 to win the Open and set a school-record last season with a 74.5 average. Senior Justin Pannkuk and junior Jon Roberts will golf #2 and #3 this afternoon after both players finished in the top five Tuesday. Kyle McGranahan, Ross Kiewit, Aaron Rozeboom and Cole Spree round out the lineup.

Last Year... Northwestern finished sixth out of 10 teams last season at the BV Fall Invite. They shot a 320, two shots in back of USF and Briar Cliff who tied four fourth place. Vermeer led NWC with a one-over 73 and tied for second place. Pannkuk tied for 10th overall with a 77 and Kyle McGranahan tied for 27th with an 81.

Red Raider Notes... With Vermeer earning medalist honors on Tuesday, the junior has now placed in the top 10 in 14-of-15 events dating back to the start of last season. In 2007-08, he set a new school record with a 74.5 stroke average for the season. Vermeer also became the second Red Raider golfer to qualify for the national tournament as an individual. Pannkuk tied for second at the Red Raider Open with a one-over 73, his best finish since the 2006-07 season. He recorded three top 10 finishes last year. Roberts was impressive in his Red Raider debut at the Red Raider Open. The junior transfer from York College tied for fourth with a 73 and put three NWC golfers in the top five. McGranahan was solid with a 78 and tied for 22nd place for NWC.

Next up... The Red Raiders will next compete at the Dakota Wesleyan Open on Saturday, Sept .6 at the Wild Oak Golf Club in Mitchell, S.D. It is the first of two conference meets of the fall season in which the scores will continue from meet to meet. There will also be two more conference meets in the spring with the winning team after the four rounds earning the automatic berth to the national tournament.
