Central Dutch Classic

Northwestern College completed day two of the Central Dutch Classic, hosted by Central College, and the Red Raiders placed ninth out of 16 teams. Approximately 85 golfers took part in the Classic which was played at the Edmundsen Golf Course in Oskaloosa, Iowa. NWC shot a two-day total of 628 and moved up one spot after day one by shooting a 309 in the final round. The hosts, Central College, ran away with the team title by shooting an even-par 560. Iowa Wesleyan and Dordt tied for second with a 590 and Kirkwood CC finished fourth with a 606.

Individually, the Red Raiders were led by sophomore Luke Vermeer, who, after a very good fall season, picked up where he left off by placing tied for seventh with a five-over 145 (72-73). Nathan Summers carded a two-day total of 152 and finished tied for 22nd place. Four Central golfers placed in the top five individually with Justin Smool earning medalist honors with a three-under 137.

Northwestern will next play in the Nebraska Wesleyan Invite on Thursday, April 3 in Lincoln, Neb.
