The Event... The Red Raiders will compete in their final meet of the regular season as they take part in the two-day Buena Vista University Spring Invitational. Day one will be played at the Spencer Golf and Country Club while day two will be played in Storm Lake. The first round will begin around 10:00 am.

The Teams... 19 teams will compete in this year's event, including three teams from Central, two from Buena Vista and one each from Briar Cliff, Coe, Cornell, Dordt, Loras, Luther, Morningside, Nebraska Wesleyan, Iowa Lakes CC, USF, Simpson, St. Olaf, Wartburg and Northwestern.

Last Time Out... The Northwestern College men's golf team placed seventh out of 11 teams at the Midland Lutheran Men's Invitational played April 14 at the Fremont Golf Club. The Red Raiders shot 326, just 15 shots in back of first place Hastings College with a 311. Dordt (317), Wayne State (319), Briar Cliff (321), Dakota Wesleyan (321) and Midland Lutheran (323) also finished in front of NWC.

Individually, Luke Vermeer led the way as he tied for seventh place with a 76. He has finished in the top 10 in all of his meets this year. Justin Pannkuk tied for 10th place with four other golfers as he shot a 78. Nate Summers (84) finished tied for 35th overall.

Last Time at BV... The Red Raiders placed sixth out of 10 teams at last fall's BV Invite. Northwestern shot a 320 and were just two shots in back of fourth place USF and Briar Cliff. Coach Bloemendaal's squad was led by Luke Vermeer who shot a one-over 73 and finished tied for second. Justin Pannkuk tied for 10th with a 77 and Kyle McGranahan shot an 81 and tied for 27th place. Dakota Wesleyan captured both the team title (298) and overall individual honors (Chris Pritchard-72).

Red Raider Notes... Northwestern has finished in the top five three times this season (Morningside Invite, Red Raider Invite and Nebraska Wesleyan Spring Invite). They average a team score of 322.4 in 13 rounds this season. Individually, Luke Vermeer leads the team with a 74.54 stroke average and has placed in the top 10 in all of the meets this season. The sophomore has four runner-up finishes. Justin Pannkuk is averaging 79.3 and has placed in the top 10 in three meets. Nate Summers averages 81.8 and has recorded one top 10 finish.

Next up... The Red Raiders will compete in the GPAC Tournament on Monday and Tuesday (April 21-22) at Green Valley in Sioux City, Iowa.
