Luke Vermeer carded a seven-over 78 and moved into second place overall after two rounds of the GPAC Championship. The second round was held at Wilderness Ridge in
Lincoln, Neb.
The senior from Sioux Center shot a 40 on the front nine, 38 on the back, and moved up one spot to second after the Tuesday's second round. Vermeer was tied for third with three other golfers after the first round and now trails the overall leader, Cam Jacobs (MOR), by five shots.
Northwestern shot a 341 and finished fifth in the second round, five shots in back of Dakota Wesleyan. The Raiders stand in fourth place overall with two rounds left to play. They trail Morningside (144), Nebraska Wesleyan (625) and Dakota Wesleyan (632). Morningside won the second round with a 312.
In addition to Vermeer, Northwestern was led by Michael Dykema who tied for 14th place with an 84 (46/38). Michael Clark tied for 29th place with an 89 and is tied for 23rd overall after two rounds. Johnny Schwaller carded a 90 (T34) and is tied for 18th place overall while Jon Roberts is tied for 33rd after the second round after carding a 93 on Tuesday.
The final two rounds will be in the spring of 2010. This ends the fall season for the Raiders.
