The Event... The Northwestern College men's golf team resumes play tomorrow afternoon at the second round of the GPAC Championship hosted by Doane College. The event will be played at the Wilderness Ridge Golf Club in Lincoln, Neb. The Raiders will tee off as part of the third group around 12:15-12:30 pm. To view the GPAC release, click on the

The Teams... All 13 GPAC schools will take part in the event.
Current Standings... The Raiders are currently tied with Dakota Wesleyan for third place with a score of 296. Morningside and Nebraska Wesleyan are tied for first place with a 293. Briar Cliff stand in fifth place with a 301.
Individually, Luke Vermeer carded an even-par 71 and is tied for third place with three other golfers: Cam Jacobs (MOR), Andrew Farrand (DWU) and Bill Keane (BCU). Kyle Jaacks (NWU) is the overall leader with a 68, followed by Jon Tanner (70). Johnny Schwaller tied for seventh with a one-over 73 while Michael Clark and Jon Roberts are tied for 15th with five-over 76's. The first round was played on Sept. 17 at Landsmeer Golf Club.
Last Time Out... The Raiders won its second straight team championship last week at the two-day Doane Invitational. They also won the BCU Invite on Sept. 23.
Luke Vermeer and Michael Dykema finished first and second, respectively, with a two-day total of 157 but Vermeer won the playoff to take medalist honors. Facing difficult conditions, the senior carded an 83 on the first day and a 74 this afternoon. Dykema shot a 79 on Monday and closed with a 78 in the second round.
On the same course that the GPAC Championship second round will be played next week, Northwestern shot a two-day total of 643 (331/312), 18 strokes in front of second place Morningside (661). Briar Cliff (671), Doane (677) and Concordia (688) round out the top five. Nine full teams participated in the meet.
Two other Raider golfers finished in the top 10 overall. Jon Roberts carded a 165 (84/81) to place ninth, followed by Johnny Schwaller (85/81) with a 166, good for 10th place. Michael Clark finished 11th (167) and Aaron Rozeboom tied for 23rd with a 173 (91/82).
Raider Line-Up...Luke Vermeer leads NWC with an impressive 74.9 scoring average. The senior placed in the top three in three events, earning medalist honors once, and five top 15 finishes. Michael Clark carries an 80.1 scoring average into the second round of the championship with three top 15 finishes. Jon Roberts has an 82.7 average with a season-best ninth place finish at the Doane Invite. Michael Dykema ranks second on the team with a 79.2 scoring average with two top-10 finishes this fall. Johnny Schwaller averages an 81.4 with five top 20 finishes.
As a team, the Raiders average 317 with a season-best 296 at the first round of the GPAC Championship.
Up Next...This will end the fall season for the Red Raiders. They will resume play in the spring of 2010.
