Vermeer Named GPAC Men's Golfer-of-the-Year

Luke Vermeer, a sophomore from Sioux Center, Iowa, earned first team all-GPAC honors and was named 2008 GPAC Men's Golfer-of-the-Year. VermeerVermeer won the conference meet by one stroke with an even-par 144 at Green Valley Golf Course in Sioux City, Iowa. One week later, he won the Region III Championship with a four-over 148, one shot better than Ron Harder of Midland Lutheran. With the win, Vermeer qualified for the NAIA Men's Golf Championship which begins today (May 13) in Plymouth, Ind. The four day, 72-hole event concludes on Friday, May 16 and is being played at the Indiana National Golf Club.

Vermeer placed in the top 10 in all 13 meets this season and carries a 74.1 averaged into the national championships. He recorded two individual championships and finished as the runner-up four times this season.
