Red Raiders Travel to DWU Friday Night

Northwestern (9-3-1, 3-2) travels to Mitchell, S.D. to take on Dakota Wesleyan (7-5, 2-2) in a GPAC men's soccer match on Friday night. Northwestern has won four of their last five matches while DWU is on a two game skid.

Scouting Dakota Wesleyan

DWU has been very stingy on defense this season, allowing 13 goals in 12 matches. The Tiger offense has scored 23 goals in 2014. Despite a ten goal advantage on offense the Tigers have been out-shot 157-129 overall but they own a 75-69 advantage in shots on goal. Chaz Foss leads the offense with seven goals scored, eight assists, and 22 points. In the GPAC, Foss is tied for second in goals scored, first in assists, and tied for first in points. Peter Wartenberg and Adam Jahnel have both scored five goals. Bryce Berletic is second on the team with four assists. 

Goalkeeper Alex Nelson has scored 11 goals and has made 48 saves. He has collected four shut-outs and has a goals against average of 1.050.

Scouting Northwestern

NWC has nearly doubled their opponents in goals scored this season, holding a 40-21 lead. Ryan Johnson, the GPAC leader in goals scored, has 11 goals this season and 22 points. He is tied with Foss from DWU for first in the GPAC in points. Koray Karakas has scored six goals while Gabriel Goncalves has scored five times. Nine other Red Raiders have made goals for Northwestern. Kade Heikens has a team best six assists and trails only Foss in the GPAC. Tukker Bogaard has four assists. Three Raiders have three assists and six Raiders have made two assists this season.

Aaron Bosch has made 44 saves this season and has allowed 21 goals. Bosch has made four shut-outs in 13 starts.

Northwestern returns to the pitch on Oct. 18th when they travel to Seward, Neb. to take on Concordia.
