The Red Raider men's soccer team (4-1-1) returns to action today when they travel to Forest City, Iowa to take on the Waldorf Warriors (1-5). Northwestern defeated William Penn, 3-2, in their last match while Waldorf is currently on a three match losing and scoreless streak.
The Warriors have been out-scored 11-6 this season and have been out-shot 106-52 and 54-29 in shots on goal. Steven Shelley has scored twice for Waldorf while Dylan Basil, Robert Serrano, Jordan Van Son, and Samuel Finnegan have each scored once. Serrano has a team high two assits. Waldorf has allowed 37 corner kicks and forced 18.
Erubey Ponce has made every start for Waldorf and has made 43 saves while allowing 11 goals.
The Red Raiders have scored 19 goals this season and have allowed 11 by their opponents. They have out-shot their opponents 95-73 and 54-33 in shots on goal. Ryan Johnson, this week's GPAC Offensive Player of the Week, leads NWC with six goals scored. Koray Karakas and Kade Heikens have both scored three times. Landon Sibole, last week's GPAC Offensive Player of the Week, has scored twice while Gabriel Goncalves, Tukker Bogaard, Asher Bates, and Ryan Hickey have each scored once. Nate Huyser, Pedro Fonseca, Karakas, Sibole, Goncalves, and Bogaard have each picked up two assists for NWC. Wesley Lockwood and Connor Sams each have one assist as well. Northwestern has forced 28 corner kicks and has allowed 31 corners.
Aaron Bosch has started all six games in goal and has allowed 11 goals while making 22 saves. Bosch has also teamed with the defense to shutout opponents twice this season.
Northwestern hosts Midland on Saturday at the NWC Soccer Complex in the first GPAC action for the Red Raiders.
