The Event...The Northwestern College men's golf team continues its spring season this week at the two-day, 54-hole Midland Invite. Monday's round will feature 36 holes at the Fremont Golf Club in Fremont, Neb. beginning at 9am. Tuesday's final round will be played at the Oakland Country Club and begins at 10:30am.
Teams Competing...Northwestern will be one of at least six teams competing in the two-day event, including Briar Cliff, Concordia, Doane, Dordt, Midland and Morningside.
Last Time Out...Northwestern College finished tied for 10th in the two-day, 54-hole Battle at Primm in their spring season debut played on the Prime Valley Golf Club-Desert Black in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Red Raiders carded a 291 (+3) in the final round, fifth lowest among the 18 teams, and finished in a five-way tie for 10th place after the 54 holes with an 889 (+25). They tied (RV) Bellevue (Neb.), No. 14 Grand View (Iowa), (RV) The Master's (Calif.) and Rocky Mountain (Mont.)
Evan Schuler led Northwestern, tying for 24th place with a 54-hole total of 219 (+3). Schuler closed the tournament with a one-under 71. Zach Riddle tied for 34th with a 222 (+6), shooting an even-par 72 in today's final round. Justin Kraft (T41-224), Ryan Christy (T56-228) and Austin Reitz (T56-228) round out the NW scores.
Northwestern Notes...The Red Raiders bring a 301.7 scoring average into the Midland Invite, having placed in the top five in three events and in the top 10 in four. Both Evan Schuler and Austin Reitz have two top-10 finishes this season and Reitz and Justin Kraft were medalist in one event.
