Red Raiders Close Fall Season At NAIA Preview

The Event...Northwestern College concludes its fall season at the two-day NAIA Preview Meet held at the TPC Deere Run Golf Course in Silvis, Ill., on Oct. 17-18. The course is a 6.625-yard, par 72 track. The Red Raiders will tee off around 9:30am on Monday and a TBA on Tuesday. 

Teams Competing...Over 20 teams are scheduled to compete in what will be the largest meet of the year for the Red Raiders. Among those competing are several ranked teams, along with one another GPAC team, Midland.

Last Year...Northwestern College placed 17th at last season's NAIA Preview Meet, a two-day event held at the same venue as this year.

In 21st place after the first round, Northwestern moved up four spots and finished 17th out of 24 teams after the final round. The Red Raiders shot a 36-hole total of 640, closing with a 312 in the final round.

Top-ranked Coastal Georgia won the meet with a two-day total of 595, followed by Oklahoma City with a 598. William Woods (600), Marian (606), Grand View and the University of Cumberlands (both win a 609) round out the top five. 

Justin Kraft tied for 24th place out of 120 golfers with a 36-hole score of 153 to lead Northwestern. Zach Riddle tied for 32nd with a 36-hole score of 155 and Evan Schuler tied for 97th with a 167 (84/83). Dane Waldron (T102-169) and Ryan Christy (T105-171) were the other Northwestern golfers. 

Anthony Marchesani (Oklahoma City) took home medalist honors with a one-over 143 (73/70), winning the individual title by one stroke over Seth Sanders (Coastal Georgia). 

Northwestern Notes and Line-Up...The Red Raiders have a team scoring average of 295, led by Justin Kraft with a 72.8 mark. The junior has one first place finish this fall. Austin Reitz has a 73.0 scoring average and also one first place finish. Evan Schuler (74.3), Ryan Christy (75.5) and Zach Riddle (76.5) round out the Northwestern golfers.
