Edmundson Golf Course
The Event...The Northwestern College men's golf team will conclude its fall season at the two-day William Penn Invite held in Oskaloosa, Iowa. The 36-hole event will be played at the Edmundson Golf Course, a par 70, 6031-yard course. The Red Raiders will begin play at 1:15pm, along with golfers from Central and William Penn.
Teams Competing...Northwestern is one of eight teams scheduled to compete this weekend, including William Penn, Waldorf, Ashford, Central, Simpson, AIB and Grand View.
Last Time Out...Northwestern fielded two teams at the Briar Cliff Invite held Tuesday at Two Rivers Golf Club. The varsity finished fifth and the JV placed seventh out of 11 teams
The Red Raider varsity shot a 325, just one shot in back of fourth place Dakota Wesleyan and eight strokes behind overall team champion Morningside (317).
Justin Kraft led Northwestern with a four-over 74 and finished tied for third overall out of 62 golfers. Ryan Christy tied for 16th with an 80 (+10), followed by Jordy Reinders who tied for 18th with an 81. Evan Schuler (90) and Adam Bleeker (91) tied for 46th and 48th, respectively.
The Red Raider junior varsity was led by Cade McLaughlin who tied for eighth with a 76. Andrew Minor shot an 82 and tied for 20th while Austin Reece tied for 35th with an 86.
Northwestern News and Notes...The Red Raiders carry a team average of 307.0 through six meets played this fall. They have finished in the top five in all but one meet and have one first place showing (Iowa Lakes).
Justin Kraft leads Northwestern with a 74.6 scoring average. The freshman has two wins this fall and has placed in the top 10 in four events. Cade McLaughlin is third on the team with a 77.5 scoring average and has two top-10 finishes. Ryan Christy and Jordy Reinders both have a 78.4 scoring average and Evan Schuler has a 79.4 average heading into the weekend.
