Fox Run Golf Course
The Event...Northwestern will compete in the Lancer Men's Golf Invite at Fox Run Golf Club in Yankton, S.D. on Thursday, April 24. Teams will tee-off around 10am. The meet will serve as a preview of GPAC #4 that will be held on Monday, April 28.
Teams Competing...All of the GPAC teams are scheduled to compete on Thursday.
Last Time Out...Northwestern College tied for fourth in the third GPAC men's golf qualifier held earlier this week at the Lochland Golf Club in Hastings, Neb.
The Red Raiders tied Midland for fourth place with a third round score of 310, two shots in back of Doane. Nebraska Wesleyan won Monday's third round with a 296, the only team to shoot under 300. Morningside finished second with a 303.
Three Northwestern golfers, Ryan Kiewiet, Neil Malenke and Kyle Stanek, tied for sixth with a four-over 76, five strokes in back of third round medalist Rory Doll of Nebraska Wesleyan. Doll was the only golfer under par on Monday with a 71 (-1). Jordan Oltman tied for 35th with an 82 (+10) and Ryan Christy tied for 43rd with a an 85 (+13).
Northwestern News and Notes/Line-up...The Red Raiders have won two meets this year, taking first at the Siouxland Invite and Morningside Fall Invite. They are currently in second place in the four-round GPAC Qualifier Championship with one round left to go. Northwestern has a team average of 302.1.
Ryan Kiewiet leads the team with a 73.8 scoring average and has earned medalist honors twice this season. He has five top 10 finishes this season. Neil Malenke has also won two events and finished in the top 10 six times. He is second on the team with a 74.4 scoring average. Kyle Stanek as a 77.3 scoring average and has finished in the top five two times.
