Game Time...Northwestern College goes for its third straight win as they play host to Concordia in a GPAC match-up on Saturday, Jan. 11. Tip-off is scheduled for 4pm. The Red Raiders are tied with both Nebraska Wesleyan and Dakota Wesleyan for sixth place in the GPAC with a 3-5 record, 10-8 overall. Concordia is in 10th place in the GPAC at 2-8, 5-12 overall. All-Time...Northwestern leads the all-time series 43-17 and has won eight of the last 10 match-ups against the Bulldogs. The Red Raiders swept both games last year.
Concordia News and Notes...The Bulldogs have dropped four of their last five games to fall to 10th place in the GPAC with a 2-8 record, 5-12 overall. They lost to Dakota Wesleyan and St. Gregory (Okla.) prior to the break and followed with consecutive losses to Dordt and Midland. Concordia's lone win was a 75-72 victory over Kansas Wesleyan on Jan. 30.
Ben Limback is in his first season as the head coach of the Bulldogs after serving as the head of the Concordia (Mich.) program for nine years. He inherits a squad that returns just one starter and five players off a 2012-13 team that finished 2-18 in the GPAC, 6-22 overall.
Concordia averages 71 points per game, shooting 42% from the field and 35% from the three-point line. They lead the GPAC with 71 blocked shots and are giving up 82 points per contest.
Senior guard Adam Vogt scores a team-high 14.9 points per game while knocking down 37 three-pointers, also a team high. Sophomore Robby Thomas averages 11 points and 7.5 rebounds per game while leading the GPAC with 34 blocked shots. Chandler Folkerts puts in 11 points per game and is shooting 65% from the field.
Northwestern News and Notes...The Red Raiders are currently tied for sixth place in the GPAC with a 3-5 record, 10-8 overall. They have won two straight heading into Saturday, defeating Buena Vista in non-conference play followed by an overtime win over Dakota Wesleyan on Wednesday night.
Northwestern is scoring 77 points per game while shooting 45% from the floor and 33% from the three-point arc. They are fifth in the conference in rebounding (+5) and are giving up 76 points per game.
Zack Leeper leads the team in scoring, ranking eighth in the GPAC at 18.3 points per game. The senior has scored in double figures in every game this year and has a string of three straight games with 20-or-more points. Leeper leads the team with 33 three-pointers and also ranks 10th in the GPAC at 5.6 boards per game. Jordan Baker averages 13.7 points and a team-best 6.6 rebounds per game, shooting 58% from the field. Joey Habtemariam puts in 9.6 points per game and leads the team in both assists (71) and steals (30).
