Walker Seim and Daniel Van Kalsbeek scored 20 points each in leading Northwestern to an 88-84 win over Midland Lutheran Saturday afternoon in GPAC men's basketball. The Red Raiders improved to 6-5 in the GPAC, 11-10 overall while the MLC dropped to 1-9 in the GPAC, 3-19 overall.

The visiting Warriors had the early advantage and grabbed their largest lead (16-10) in the opening minutes. Northwestern came back to tie it at 20 and later scored  eight staight points for a 36-29 advantage. Midland bounced back and tied it at 40 and took a 53-50 lead into halftime.

With the score tied at 59 early in the second half, the Red Raiders scored five straight points and took the lead for good, 64-59. They pushed the lead up to 10 later in the half before a late Midland Lutheran charge cut it to one, 85-84, with a minute left to play. Ben Miller converted a 1-and-1 and the Raiders came up with a key defensive stop down the stretch to hold off the Warriors, 88-84.

Northwestern shot 55% for the game, 32% (6/19) from beyond the arc. Van Kalsbeek went 9-for-13 from the field for 20 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Seim converted 4-of-11 three-pointers and matched Van Kalsbeek for team-high honors. Brent Dunkelberger scored 17 points off the bench while Ben Miller scored all but one of his 17 points in the second half. The Red Raiders held a 33-29 advantage on the glass and committed 12 turnovers.

Coach Korver's squad travels to Sioux Center to play Dordt on Jan. 30.
