Walker Seim scored a career-high 29 points and Daniel Van Kalsbeek matched his career-best of 28 in leading Northwestern College to a 81-73 win over 12th-ranked Bellevue at the Dordt College Thanksgiving Classic Friday night. It was the fifth straight win for Northwestern, who improved to 5-3 overall. Bellevue fell to 3-5. The Red Raider trailed early on but grabbed a 32-18 lead with 12 minutes left to go in the first half. Bellevue came back to cut it to three but a Ryan Stock basket just before the half put NWC in front by five, 40-35, at intermission. Northwestern maintained the lead throughout the second half, leading by as much as nine (52-43). Bellevue made a late charge and cut it to five (70-65) but Ben Miller converted six free throws down the stretch to preserve the win. Seim made 11-of-17 field goals, 5-for-7 from beyond the arc for a career-high 29 points to lead all scores. He also pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds for his first double-double. Van Kalsbeek went 11-for-21 from the floor, 6-of-11 from the charity stripe, in tying his career-high of 28 points. He pulled down a team-high 14 rebounds for his third career double-double. Ben Miller added 12 points for Coach Korver's squad, which shot 44% from the field and enjoyed a 52-38 advantage on the glass. Northwestern plays Central Baptist (Ark.) tomorrow at 2:00 pm.
