Northwestern lost to 24th-ranked Southwest Minnesota State (NCAA D-II), 96-63, in Marshall, Minn. The Raiders fall to 4-5 on the season while SWMS improves to 6-1.

With the score tied at 13, the host Mustangs went on an 11-2 run midway through the first half. The Raiders pulled to within four just moments later (24-20) but SWMS outscored Northwestern 25-19 over the final six minutes to lead 49-38 at intermission.

The Mustangs outscored Northwestern 34-13 to begin the second half and opened a 30-point lead en route to a 96-63 win.

Northwestern shot 44% from the field compared to 56% by the Mustangs. Kale Wiertzema netted a team-high 18 points while Michael Jiskoot recorded another double-double with 11 points and 10 boards. Southwest Minnesota State won the battle of the glass as well, 45-26, including 20 offensive rebounds.

The Raiders returns to conference play this weekend as they take on Midland Lutheran in Fremont, Neb. Tipoff for the Saturday afternoon game is at 4:00 p.m.
