Northwestern defeated Nebraska Wesleyan 77-53 in  GPAC men's basketball Saturday afternoon in the Bultman Center. With the win, NWC improved to 18-4 overall, 9-3 in the GPAC while the Prairie Wolves fell to 11-8 overall, 5-7 in the GPAC.

Coach Korver's squad, ranked ninth in the NAIA, began the game with a 14-3 run during the first 10 minutes of action and never trailed in the game. They pushed the lead up to 16, 33-17, before NWU cut it to 13 by halftime.

In the second half, the Prairie Wolves got as close as nine early on but the Red Raiders were able to push the lead up to 20 with three minutes left to play.

Northwestern shot 55% from the field compared to 31% for NWU. The Red Raiders limited the Prairie Wolves to just 2/21 (9%) from beyond the arc. Four Red Raider players scored in double figures, led by Curt Schilling with 17 points. Andrew Stimson had 12 while Mark DeYounge (11) and Travis Van Regenmorter (10) were also in double figures. Coach Korver's squad out-rebounded Wesleyan 39-31, led by Kale Wiertzema with nine. Wiertzema dished out a game-high six assists as well.

Next up, the Red Raiders will host USF this Wednesday evening at 8:00 pm in the Bultman Center.
