Game Time... The Red Raiders, ranked 12th in this week's NAIA poll, host Mount Marty as part of a GPAC double header on Wednesday, Jan. 23. Tipoff for the men's contest is set for 8:00 pm.
Scouting Report... The Lancers won their second straight conference game last Saturday with a 64-51 win over Concordia. Leading 31-27 at the half, MMC went on a 16-0 run to start the second half to propel the Lancers to victory. Pat Anderson led the offensive attack with 22 points and four rebounds while the Lancer defense limited Concordia to just 36% from the field. Prior to the win over the Bulldogs, MMC knocked off Midland Lutheran, 77-62.
Pat Anderson leads the Lancers averaging 15 points per game. The senior guard is sixth in the league with 40 three pointers this season. Nathan Fischer is the only other Lancer player in double figures at 12.2 ppg. Stan Johnson leads the team in rebounds (5.8) and ranks fifth in the league with 22 blocks. Johnson also chips in 9.1 ppg.
Red Raider Notes... Northwestern had their nine-game win streak snapped last time out as they lost at Briar Cliff, 70-65. After both teams held the lead early on, a late NWC run to close the first half put the Red Raiders up 30-28 at halftime. The Chargers, however, went on a 12-2 run to start the second half to take the lead. Northwestern battled back and briefly took the lead, 51-50, before a 9-0 Charger run sealed the win for BCU. Chad Schuiteman led four NWC players in double figures with 16 points and 18 rebounds.
Coach Korver’s squad defeated Mount Marty on Dec. 8, 71-63. The Red Raiders outscored the Lancers 28-8 to close the first half and went on to earn the win. Curt Schilling led all scorers with 20 points while Chad Schuiteman recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Curt Schilling leads the GPAC in scoring (20 ppg), three pointers (55) and free throw percentage (91%). Chad Schuiteman averages a double-double with 15.7 points and a league best 11.7 rebounds per game.
