The Red Raiders held off Holy Names University, 99-95, late Saturday night at the first day of the Holy Names New Year's Classic. Northwestern earned their fifth straight win and improved to 11-2 overall. They also ended Holy Names' five-game win streak as the Hawks fall to 8-6 overall. NWC will play Dominican (Calif.) on Monday, Dec. 31 at 4:00 pm (CST) in the second game of the New Year's Classic. Chad Schuiteman recorded a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds to lead five Northwestern players in double figures. Curt Schilling added 18 points and five assists while Kale Wiertzema netted 18 points (4/7 three pointers) and dished out seven assists. Ryan Hoogeveen came off the bench to score 15 points and Andrew Stimson added 11 points and six assists. Northwestern held a slim, one-point lead at halftime, 45-44.
