Schilling and Schuiteman Named All-Americans

Curt SchillingSeniors Curt Schilling and Chad Schuiteman were named to the NAIA DII Men's Basketball All-American teams. Schuiteman, a three time First Team All-American, averaged 15.2 points and 11.2 rebounds per game. Schilling, a two time All-American, led Northwestern with a 19.1 ppg average.

Schilling, a senior from Ellsworth, Minn., was named a Second Team All-American.  He finished second in the GPAC in scoring (19.1), fifth in the nation in FT% (.894), and 14th in 3PT FG% (.457).  Schilling scored 2087 points in his career at Northwestern (15.6 ppg) and had 496 career rebounds.  Schilling was a part of 108 wins and four national tournaments.  He progressed every season winning honorable mention GPAC honors as a freshman, 2nd team GPAC honors as a sophomore, 1st team GPAC honors and All-American honorable mention as a junior, and 1st team GPAC and 2nd team All-American honors as a senior.

Chad SchuitemanSchuiteman, a senior from Sioux Center, Iowa, was named a First Team All-American for the third consecutive year.  Schuiteman was one of seven players in the nation to average a double-double for the season, the third year he has done so.  He averaged 15.2 ppg and 11.2 rpg.  Schuiteman scored 2210 points in his career and collected 1389 rebounds over his four years.  He also joined the 500 assist club this season finishing with 581 total assists.  For his career Schuiteman averaged 16.6 ppg and 10.4 rpg.  This season at the national tournament Schuiteman set the record for career rebounds at the national tournament grabbing his 134th of his career.

Both Schilling and Schuiteman were named to the All-Tournament team for their efforts at the national tournament this past week.    

The Northwestern Men's basketball team was awarded the NAIA Emil Liston Team Sportmanship Award at the award ceremony following the national championship game on Tuesday night in Point Lookout, Mo.

Northwestern finished this season with a 30-5 record and advanced to the Final Four for the second consecutive season before falling to Runner-Up Bellevue University.
