Raiders Use Big Second Half to Defeat Dana

Northwestern broke open a tight game with a 17-4 second half run and went on to defeat Dana 98-79 in GPAC men's basketball Saturday afternoon. The Red Raiders won their second straight game and improved to 8-6 in the GPAC, 13-11 overall. Dana fell to 3-11 in the GPAC, 7-17 overall.

The Red Raiders held an early 16-10 lead but the host Vikings quickly tied it up at 18 and it was close for the rest of the first half. With the game tied at 44, the 11th tie of the first half, Dana scored the final four points to take a 48-44 lead into the locker room.

The game remained close until the Red Raiders broke a 56-56 tie with a 17-4 run that ended with five straight points by NWC guard Ryan Stock. Leading 73-60 with 10 minutes left, Northwestern managed to extend the lead to as much as 22 en route to the 19-point win.

Northwestern shot 57% for the game and had five players score in double figures. Walker Seim scored 20 points, making 5-of-9 three-point attempts, to share team-high honors with Daniel Van Kalsbeek, who also grabbed 11 boards for his fifth double-double. Ryan Stock netted a career-high 14 points while Ryan Hoogeveen (12) and Ben Miller (11) were also in double figures. The Red Raiders held a 46-34 advantage on the glass and dished out 21 assists, led by Mike Vorwald with seven.

The Raiders will host Morningside on Feb. 10 at 8:00 pm.
