Walker Seim tied his career high and scored 29 points for the second straight night as Northwestern defeated Central Baptist (Ark.) 107-96 in the final game of the Dordt Thanksgiving Classic. The Raiders won its sixth straight game and improved to 6-3 overall. CBU dropped to 6-3 on the season.
The lead switched hands six times and the score was tied three times in the opening eight minutes until Northwestern outscored Central Baptist 24-0 to turn a 17-14 deficit into a 38-17 lead with four minutes left in the first half. Walker Seim scored 13 points during the run and the Raiders hit six three-pointers during the stretch. Northwestern led 45-29 at the half.
The Raiders built the lead up to 27 on three different occasions, the final one off a three-point play by Jacey Hoegh that put the score at 75-48 with 10 minutes left to play. Central Baptist stormed back, however, and managed to cut the NWC lead down to eight (101-93) with just over a minute left but the Raiders converted 4-of-5 free throws down the stretch to preserve the win.
Seim went 10-for-13 from the floor, including 6-of-8 from beyond the arc, to net 29 points for the second straight game. The sophomore also pulled down a team-high nine rebounds. Daniel Van Kalsbeek reached double figures for the ninth straight time with 16 points and eight boards. Stuart Goslinga matched his career-high with 10 points off the bench.
The Raiders enjoyed a huge 48-25 advantage on the boards, including 17 offensive rebounds. Mike Vorwald dished out a game-high seven assists.
