Raiders Sign Two to Play Basketball Next Year

Brian Tjepkes (Adrian, Minn.) and Garrett Sterk (McBain, Mich.) have signed letters of intent to continue their basketball careers at Northwestern College next year.

Tjepkes is a 6’3” guard who lettered three years for Adrian High School. The son of Bill and Kandace, Tjepkes averaged 21 points, 6.1 rebounds, five assists and three steals as he helped lead his team to a 20-5 record last year. Tjepkes is a three-time all-conference selection, including first team honors the last two years. He also earned all-area honors as a senior and is a member of the honor roll. Tjepkes plans to major in business at Northwestern.

“Brian is a versatile guard with good ball handling skills, court vision and shooting ability,” commented head coach Kris Korver. “We look forward to watching him improve and grow the next four years.”

Sterk is a 6’5” guard who played three years for McBain High School. Sterk earned fourth team all-state and first team all-conference honors after averaging 14 points, six rebounds and three assists as a senior. He helped lead his team to a 24-3 record and a berth in the state Final Four. A member of the National Honor Society, Sterk plans to major in actuarial science at Northwestern. He is the son of Dave and Karen.

“Garrett is a versatile guard with some big game experience,” commented Korver. “He can play and defend multiple positions and is a proven winner. We are excited to have Garrett join us at Northwestern.”
