Walter Owens (Adelanto, Calif.) has signed a letter of intent to continue his football career at Northwestern College.

Owens is a 6’0”, 190-pound running back and defensive back who played for Silverado High School. He totaled 1,269 all-purpose yards as he helped lead his team to a 6-3-2 record and a berth in the second round of the playoffs his senior year. Owens rushed for 973 yards and 13 touchdowns and averaged an impressive 7.3 yards per carry. He also caught 10 passes for 110 yards and one score. Owens earned all-area CIF honors and was named the Most Valuable Offensive Player in the league. He plans to major in computer science and is the son of Walter and Gina.

“Walter is a tremendous talent on the football field,” commented Head Coach Orv Otten. “He has outstanding speed and will be a threat to make a big play each time he touches the ball. Walter will be part of our running back group.”
