Jerel Kyles (Mentone, Calif.) and Chris Burns (Grimes, Iowa) have signed letters of intent to continue their football careers next year at Northwestern College.
Kyles is a 5’9”, 180-pound defensive back who lettered three years for the Redlands East Valley football team. Kyles earned all-league honors two straight years and helped lead his team to a 10-2 record and quarterfinal berth in the state playoffs. He totaled 80 tackles and six interceptions as a senior. Kyles was named a scholar athlete and plans to major in computer science at Northwestern. He is the son of Nicole and Jerome.
“Jerel is a young man with outstanding speed and cover abilities,” commented head coach Kyle Achterhoff. “He will be a great addition to our secondary and to our Red Raider football family.”
The son of Steve and Cathy, Burns is a 6’2”, 160-pound wide receiver and safety who lettered two years for Dallas Center-Grimes High School. He registered 17 tackles, one interception and one fumble recovery and helped lead his team to a 7-3 record a berth in the sub-state final.
“We are pleased that Chris has decided to join the Red Raider football family,” commented Achterhoff. “He will be a nice addition to our receiving corps.”
